Anson’s Voyage medallion

Updated: Dec 24, 2019

A momento for the big trip. We had (cheap) replicas made of the medal created by Admiral Anson to commemorate the victory over the French at Cape Finisterre on May 3, 1747. Each of his six captains- Kepler, Dennis, Saumarez, Saunders, Brett, and Campbell - received a gold medal, his commissioned officers received a silver one and each seaman got a bronze.

This replica shows on the obverse King George being crowned by Nike, with Anson’s Voyage down the left, and 20:20:60 on the right. On the reverse is the Anson coat of arms, and the names of the six major locations we will visit -South Africa, China, Tinian Islands, Patagonia, Chile, and the Galápagos Islands.

we plan to hand these out as a small gift as we travel around the world.
